Reflections from March 23, 2022 – Day 12 of my journey.

Life isn’t fair.

We all encounter moments that feel so overwhelming, so unjust, that we wonder how we could possibly move forward. Moments that threaten to undo everything we thought we knew about ourselves and the world.

But even in the face of life’s deepest unfairness, there is a choice to be made:
You can give up. Or you can find your why.
You can chart your own path, and grow through what you go through, 1% at a time.

Life Is Made of Moments

Life is not one continuous experience—it’s made up of moments.

Moments of joy.
Moments of routine.
Moments where the weight of life feels unbearable.

It’s in those crushing moments—the ones where you doubt whether you’ll ever make it through—that your true self is revealed.

I call these turnback moments.

My Turnback Moment

For me, that moment came when we lost our son, Maxwell Seraphim, in December 2021.

Born still at 28 weeks, Max’s passing left a crater of heartbreak so deep that I couldn’t imagine ever climbing out of it. The proverbial light at the end of the tunnel wasn’t even a light—it was a faint glimmer on a horizon I couldn’t reach.

I was lost. I was broken. And for a time, I believed that was where my story might end.

But it’s in these moments—the darkest, most painful ones—that resilience is born.
It’s where grit takes root.
It’s where your why begins to grow.

The Seed of Purpose

In the beginning, just getting out of bed was a victory.
Making it through a day without breaking down was a triumph.

And it’s when you start stacking those tiny wins, day by day, that something extraordinary begins to happen—you start to realize you can survive. You can move forward.

And that realization plants the first seed of your why.

Like any seed, it doesn’t grow overnight. It needs nurturing. It needs patience. And yes—it needs faith, even when it feels impossible.

You will question it.
You will wonder if it’s worth it.
You will wonder if anyone notices or cares.

But you keep watering that seed anyway.
You keep showing up.
You keep believing that something beautiful can come from your pain.

When Your Why Takes Root

And one day, you’ll realize—the seed has sprouted.

You’ll feel the sunlight on your face.
You’ll see that the light at the end of the tunnel isn’t just a distant hope—it’s growing closer with every step you take.

When your why takes root deep inside you, you won’t question it anymore.
You’ll know it’s real.
You’ll know it’s strong.
And you’ll live for it with everything you have.

Keep Growing

Wherever you are in your journey right now, I encourage you:
Keep watering your seed.
Keep believing in your why.
Even if it’s just a glimmer today, with care, patience, and resilience, it will grow into something extraordinary.

Because the truth is this:
Life may not be fair.
But you still have the power to create meaning.
You still have the power to build something beautiful.

And it all starts with your why.
